For Charles Pilcher, automotive repair isn’t simply a career. It is something that has been part of his life for as long as he can remember.

Where It All Began

Charles’ love for automobiles began before he was old enough to drive.

He grew up in a family deeply involved in dirt-track racing. From the time Charles was born, racing was part of his family’s life. Weekends were spent at the track, surrounded by race cars, drivers, mechanics, and the unmistakable sights, sounds, and smells of grassroots motorsports.

As Charles grew older, watching from the sidelines wasn’t enough.

During his teenage years, he began getting his hands dirty—helping his family work on the race cars and learning firsthand what it took to build, maintain, diagnose, and repair a competition vehicle. Those early experiences became the foundation of his understanding of automotive systems and sparked a curiosity that would stay with him throughout his life.

He wasn’t just learning how to work on cars.

He was learning to understand them.

When Charles became old enough to drive, his love of cars and racing evolved into a new passion: drag racing.

The world of drag racing brought a different kind of challenge. Performance, precision, diagnostics, tuning, and reliability all mattered. Every component had a purpose, and small changes could make a significant difference in performance.

For Charles, racing became more than a hobby. It became another classroom.

Those early years taught him lessons that would remain with him throughout his automotive career—how systems work together, how to diagnose problems, how to pay attention to details, and most importantly, how to never stop learning.

From Passion to Profession

What began with race cars eventually grew into a lifelong career in automotive repair.

Over the next four decades, Charles would work in parts sales and vehicle repair, own and operate his own repair shop, and develop extensive experience diagnosing and repairing increasingly sophisticated vehicles.

The automotive industry changed dramatically during those years.

Vehicles that once relied primarily on mechanical systems began incorporating sophisticated computers, electronic controls, sensors, cameras, radar, and interconnected safety systems. Charles embraced those changes rather than resisting them.

The same curiosity that had driven him to understand race cars as a teenager pushed him to understand the technology being introduced into modern vehicles.

Recognizing the Next Evolution

As Advanced Driver Assistance Systems became increasingly common, Charles recognized another major shift taking place in the industry.

Modern vehicles were no longer simply machines designed to get people from one place to another. They had become sophisticated safety platforms, using cameras, radar, sensors, and computer systems to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings and assist the driver.

Systems such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision warning were changing the way vehicles operated.

And Charles recognized an important reality:

Repairing the vehicle was only part of the job. The safety systems had to work correctly, too.

Collision repairs, windshield replacements, suspension work, wheel alignments, and other repairs could affect the positioning and operation of ADAS components. Proper calibration was becoming an essential part of returning modern vehicles to safe operating condition.

That realization ultimately became the foundation for ADAS USA.

Experience You Can Put to Work

Charles’ expertise isn’t based solely on classroom training or equipment certifications. It comes from more than four decades of actually working on vehicles.

He is an ASE Certified Master Technician, ASE Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, ASE Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Specialist, and I-CAR Certified in ADAS Calibration.

He has also served as a technical trainer for some of the most recognized names in automotive diagnostics and equipment, including Snap-on, Bosch, Launch, and TOPDON.

Those experiences have given Charles a unique perspective.

He understands the technology.

He understands the technician.

He understands the collision repair process.

And he understands what is ultimately at stake—the safety of the person behind the wheel.

And today, Charles Pilcher is helping collision repair professionals navigate one of the most important technological changes the automotive industry has ever experienced.
